Because I'm sure you've faithfully boycotted them for the past 42 years! The semi-official Vatican newspaper L'Osservatore Romano says that John Lennon's 1966 boast that The Beatles were "more popular than Jesus" was merely "showing off, bragging by a young English working-class musician who had grown up in the age of Elvis Presley and rock and roll and had enjoyed unexpected success."
No word on what Pope Benedict thinks of The Wu-Tang Clan, but then again this is the Vatican, so I'm sure that after they've all been dead a couple of decades/centuries it will be revealed that they were not so bad. |
